South of England 11/04/15
At one of our favourite local venues Milly put on a promising performance in the dressage, which Liane felt went well and was expecting a score in the low 30′s. However on this occasion the judge was not similarly impressed and although there were few comments left as an indication as to why, Milly received a disappointing score of 39.
Milly’s show jumping round was relatively pleasing although she brushed the pole off of the first part of a double coming down the slope. Milly often slightly struggles jumping down a hill which is an issue that is very hard to work on, especially over the winter and spring when it is very hard to find anywhere to practice on grass. Her jumping has been improving with trips to local BS shows, these are all on lovely flat surfaced arenas!
Milly is really coming into her own in the cross country phase. She gave Liane a lovely ride around the course at Ardingly, and finished clear with a few time faults. Following her score in the dressage, and adding 4 faults in the show jumping there was no need to push her too hard to try and make the time, despite this she was only 6 seconds outside the optimum.
