Somerley Park April 2015

Somerley Park, April 2015

Due to the cancellation of Goring Heath, Somerley Park kindly ran an extra day of competition at the last minute to accommodate for those who were due to run at Goring. So, having only entered on Monday, they took the trip down to Ringwood on Good Friday. Unfortunately there had been rain overnight and two days of competition the ground was not in the best shape! It was deep sticky mud in places, including parts of the dressage and especially the show jumping warm up.

Millie worked in nicely for the dressage, but was quite keen to be back out eventing and let her excitement get the better of her in the ring a few times with a few exuberant transitions! However it felt like a nice test otherwise, and Liane was disappointed with the score we were given.

In the show jumping warm up Millie made it clear she did not enjoy jumping out of the mud, yet despite this she tried really hard and coped with the conditions well to produce one of few clear rounds.

The cross country phase went really well, Millie was a pleasure to ride and made it round the course without any hesitation. She picked up just a few time faults and finished 6th in her section. A great start to the season, with a placing and a double clear.
