It was both Liane and Freddie’s first visit to the impressive venue at Aston-le-walls. It was a fairly long drive up there but well worth it for the extensive facilities and we’ll run event.
The dressage was held in an immaculate and almost perfectly flat grass arena. Freddie must have appreciated the lovely going and produced a very nice test, with some nice canter work but plenty more still to work on. He scored a decent mark of 32.7.
The show jumping was held in a surfaced arena and was well up to height, but nicely designed course. Freddie often seems to prefer show jumping on an artificial surface and proved this again by jumping a nice clear round.
Following the disappointment at Ardingly, resulting from Lianes slight knock of self confidence, the main aim of the day was to take it steady cross country and prioritise going clear in total control. This goal was well met, and Liane was thrilled as she felt it was one of her most enjoyable rides cross country on Freddie as she felt in total control.
