ILPH Barney
1999 NF 13.2 hh Gelding
Barney came to us in 2002 having been rescued by the ILPH from a miserable existence, completely unhandled and suffering from malnutrition.
Mike Pocock adopted him with the intention of providing him with a home for life acting as a field companion for his youngstock.
He was subsequently backed and has proved to be a useful type to have around. He has had very little ridden work over the years as his role was at home, although he acted as lorry companion to our youngstock on their debuts at events / shows. Last year he went to few local shows in his own right, competing inhand.
This year, Barney has had the dedication of two riders, our grooms Lauren and Mel. With regular schooling and attention he has blossomed into a confident happy pony. We are looking forward to Barney taking part in ridden classes at the Summer Shows.

A very tired little Barney has just returned from Oakwood Park Show, with 4 rosettes of his own! Well - he is to share them with Mel, who rode him to success. I'll try to find some photos - but this is what he 'did';
5th in Prelim 7 Dressage
4th in PC Pony
4th in Working Hunter Pony
The Dressage Judge gave some very encouraging comments including 'nice pony' and 'well ridden'.
Bearing in mind that Barney came to us a 2 year old unbroken and very fearful of men, giving the indication that his very early years were quite harrowing - we are thrilled with todays results.
